1) Classical Arminianism
F. Leroy Forlines and J. Matthew Pinson present an important contribution to the Arminian-Calvinist debate with Classical Arminianism published in 2011 by Randall House Publications. Classical Arminianism, like Calvinism, seeks to be faithful to what the Bible teaches, and this book does a great job at looking at many of the key passages that have to do with the divine sovereignty questions. Very well researched and written.
2) Why I Am Not a Calvinist
In the highly readable Why I Am Not a Calvinist Jerry L. Walls and Joseph R. Dongell explore the flaws of Calvinist theology. A clear and easy read published by IVP Books in 2004
3) Against Calvinism: Rescuing God’s Reputation from Radical Reformed Theology
In Against Calvinism: Rescuing God’s Reputation from Radical Reformed Theology Roger Olson – professor of theology at George W. Truett Theological Seminary of Baylor University in Waco, Texas – suggests that Calvinism holds an unwarranted place in our list of accepted theologies. This is a great book for those wanting a better understanding of Calvinism and it’s weak points. Olsen is generous and not mean-spirited in handling Calvinism. His definitions, arguments and writing style are all very clear and easy to understand.
4) Chosen But Free: A Balanced View of God’s Sovereignty and Free Will
Chosen But Free: A Balanced View of God’s Sovereignty and Free Will is presented by Dr. Norman L. Geisler – distinguished professor of apologetics and theology at Veritas Evangelical Seminary in Murrieta, California. This is an excellent book that sheds light on a sometimes difficult topic and is written in with a neutral lens.
